Mission Overview
Modeled off of the X-1 Supersonic Flight Program, this year's aircraft will carry a collection of external fuel tanks and an X-1 test vehicle, an autonomous glider, which will be launched from the aircraft during flight.
Timed installation of pylons, fuel tanks and X-1 test vehicle. Successful launch of X-1 test vehicle from aircraft.
Timed completion of 3 competition laps, no payload, achievement of successful landing.
Timed completion of 3 competition laps, carrying fuel tanks and X-1 test vehicle, achievement of successful landing.
Completion of multiple laps prior to successful launch and landing of X-1 test vehicle, aircraft carrying fuel tanks, achievement of successful landing.
*M3 Bonus Points: Activation of flashing lights/strobes on X-1 test vehicle post-launch and successful landing in designated "bonus box" area, while minimizing vehicle weight.
